March 2026
My name is Phil Liaboe and I had a heart transplant on February 8, 2024. The transplant took place at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. I was diagnosed with advanced heart failure due to cardiac sarcoidosis in the fall of 2019. Shortly thereafter I exited the workforce at the age 60 after spending several months on medical disability.
My goal here is to write about heart transplant and it’s varied aspects in order to provide information to others. It is not a chronological dairy of the events as took place, but rather a review of what I felt are the subjects that will be of most interest to heart transplant patient candidates, caregivers and loved ones.
I am not a medical professional nor am I a professional writer. The sum total of my 40 career was engaged in business to business sales. I am currently retired and do occasional guest speaking engagements in higher education to business students to provide insights on realities of the sales role.
I am open to suggestions regarding topics or questions you think I might be able to help with so send me your thoughts using the contact form if you like.
